with Dujardyn Artconcept

18 to 22 August 2025 - five-day training 

A glimpse of the ironwork workshop in 2024...

COURSE CONTENT

  • The stages in the blacksmith's craft - from design to the installation of a structure

  • The different tools and techniques used in the past and today, and the results obtained by using them in 17th and 18th century ironwork, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and new contemporary ironwork.

  • Baroque volutes - design, practice and project

  • Metal ornaments - drawing, practice and project

  • The Art Nouveau whip - drawing, practice and project

  • Art Deco decoration - drawing, practice and project

  • Brushing, rubbing, polishing, colouring and waxing wrought iron for interiors - practice and project.

  • Visit to the beautiful town of Oudenaarde

  • Round table to discuss participants' personal projects (advice), the practice of wrought ironwork today and the future of the craft.

 

Teachers of the TRA will be present at certain times during the course.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

DATES⎟ Monday 18th to Friday 22nd of August, 2025

Our team can assist students with transport on Monday morning and

Friday evening from Waregem and Bruges stations.

COURSE LOCATION⎟O.L.Vrouwestraat 3, 8780 Oostrozebeke, Belgium

 

COURSE LANGUAGE ⎟English (the teachers also speak French & Dutch)

 

COURSE TIMETABLE⎟9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday 

 

FEES⎟1 075 EUR

 

Included:

  • The accommodation for 4 nights

  • The five-day course (study visit in Gent, theoretical courses and creation of several ironwork elements)

  • Gloves, safety glasses & hearing protection 

  • Tea, coffee, biscuits & water 

  • A guide & a book about blacksmithing

 

The accommodation:

  • A room in a lodging

  • Bed linen & a shower towel

  • The wifi

  • Fully-equipped bathroom/shower room

  • A fitted kitchen

  • A dining room

  • A living room

  • Tea, coffee, spices & bread for the week (provided by the TRA)

 

Compulsory for each participant

  • Accident insurance covering the duration of the workshop (a proof must be sent by e-mail at least one month before the start date of the workshop)

  • A pair of safety shoes

  • Working clothes

Minimum age to apply to the course⎟16 years old

Applicants under the age of 18 must send along with their application a letter from their legal guardian authorising them to take part in the training.
