Study the art of carpentry

COURSE CONTENT

  • The stages of the carpenter's work - from the drawing to raising a structure

  • The carpenter's tools - The different tools and techniques used in the past and today, and the results obtained by using them...

  • Traditional trunk squaring  

  • Shaping  joints - half-timber joint, mortise and tenon joint, dovetail joint & the use of pegs 

  • Round-table to discuss about participants' personal projects (advice), the practice of carpentry today and the future of the profession 

TRA teachers will be present at certain times during the training.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

COURSE LOCATION⎟Breedstraat 7, 9660 Everbeek (Brakel), Belgium

COURSE LANGUAGE ⎟English (the teacher also speaks French & Dutch)

COURSE TIMETABLE⎟9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday​

Our team can assist students with transport on Monday from 8:00 a.m.

and on Friday evening from Geraardsbergen station.

 

FEES⎟1 400 EUR

 

Included:

  • The accommodation for 4 nights 

  • The five-day course 

  • Gloves & safety glasses 

  • Tea, coffee, biscuits & water 

  • A book about carpentry

 

The accommodation:

  • A room in a lodging

  • Bed linen & a shower towel

  • The wifi

  • Fully-equipped bathroom/shower room

  • A fitted kitchen

  • A dining room

  • A living room

 

Compulsory for each participant

  • Accident insurance covering the duration of the workshop (a proof must be sent by e-mail at least one month before the start date of the workshop)

  • A pair of safety shoes

  • Working clothes

Minimum age to apply to the course⎟16 years old

Applicants under the age of 18 must send along with their application a letter from their legal guardian authorising them to take part in the training.
